Janet B. Lurie, ESQ has dedicated her life to helping people. After graduating cum laude from Jersey City State College, she got her M.A. from Columbia University - Teachers College, where she studied Teaching the Blind and Visually Impaired. From there, she took a job with the New York Association for the Blind as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. She went back to school, getting her J.D. from Rutgers School of Law, Newark, in 1988.
Janet B. Lurie, ESQ was motivated by her experiences at the New York Association for the Blind, as well her Special Education Administration studies at Columbia, to pursue a legal career. Because of her background, she was uniquely qualified to offer compassionate help to people with unique legal needs, and ensure their rights were protected.
Since opening her own practice in 1990, she has specialized in Elder Law issues, planning for catastrophic illness, and guardianships. Since 1998, Janet has been certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the ABA Accredited National Elder Law Foundation. Additionally, she’s a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the current Vice Chair of the Bergen County District II-B Ethics Committee, and is a past President of Women Lawyers in Bergen County. She’s lectured at the YM-YWHA, JCC on the Palisades, and local nursing homes on issues affecting senior citizens.
